Team DK Challenge 24:
David Edwards: An ex-offshore yacht racer and self confessed “adrenaline junkie” whose yacht races have taken him from the Mersey with Liverpool Yacht Club, the Fastnet Race aboard "Wave Sweeper" a Swan 46 and the Caribbean racing alongside Pete Newlands in a Henderson 30. David lives five minutes from Hoylake which he considers to be the "perfect beach". David was introduced to kites at an early age and his wife Janet rekindled the interest by giving David a traction kite as a birthday present. “So basically this is all down to Janet!”. Since then David has been involved in evaluating kites for leading kite manufacturers based both here in the UK and on the Continent; David is a forum advisor for Racekites.com.
Andy Tipper: Andy has been a major influence within the kiting community since the birth of traction kiting as we know it today. First inspired by Peter Powell stunt kites (he's still got his) Andy is the Managing Director of Prokites Ltd an internet based kite retailing company in Hoylake. Andy is chief kiting guru to the team having a wealth of expertise at his finger tips and again with that "perfect beach" as his playground. Andy through Prokites Ltd is a team sponsor.
Matthew Gardiner: Matthew really does qualify for living on that “perfect beach” and says “I got into kiting when we moved to Hoylake and I saw all the fun that kiters had in the area. As age creeps up, sitting down in a buggy became the obvious thing to do – less wear on my knees! Buggying gets me out in all weathers when the wind, sand, sun and sea combine in infinitely variable amounts to create a challenging and ever changing environment. At the end of a good session, I’m occasionally wet through, often cold and always tired, but the thrill has been a real escape from the day job running one of the North-West’s leading housing associations.”
