News 2007
January 2007: HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! To see out the old David Edwards and Matthew Gardiner decided to use a marginal sand bank at Hoylake on New Year's Eve, winds were 30kts that built rapidly to 40kts that saw kites lines fail. All kites lines are being altered to those of a new manufacturer.
14th January saw the Team assembled at the Red Rocks end of the Hoylake flying site. The aim of the day was to have as many of the new kites set up and flying as possible, we had hoped for lighter winds in the 10 - 17kts range. Sadly we had a continuation of gusty higher winds 30kts registered soon after arriving on the sand bank and for the 6 hour period the average was really 22kts to 30kts. Smaller kites were tested along with the new kites lines which performed faultlessly.
27th January - the team was out again a marginal beach with plenty of lying water which dried out as the day progressed. Another 5 hours plus of testing including a new flying suit. During the course of training we were able to set up and trim some of the mid range sizes.
29th January - David decided to have a couple of hours testing the larger kites - just failing to get the largest kite (12.2m) airborne as the wind strength increased. The opportunity was taken to test the new flying suit again which has added a new dimension to the comfort factor of the pilot!
February 2007: 4th February in approaching 1kts of wind we flew the 12.2m kite... another 1 or 2kts and the pull would be awesome... sadly restricted by tides we conducted static flying tests on an area called the "Dips" in New Brighton.
March/April 2007: A busy six weeks has passed testing kites and putting distance on the mileometer. FISLY have been given notice that the event will take place on 23/24 June 2007. Our charity has been chosen! See Charity News page.
